This is a small collection of wellness journeys across three very different Indian settings, drawn together by one thread: the practice itself. Some are structured and demanding, some gentle and restorative, and the writeups tell you plainly which is which before you commit a week of your life to it.
What sets Picknic’s wellness journeys apart is that we do not dress up a poolside massage as spiritual work, and we do not pretend a strict ashram is a holiday. We work with teachers who actually teach, we tell you when accommodation is a shared dormitory rather than a suite, and we are candid about early starts, silence and simple food. When a place is a resort, we call it a resort. When it is an ashram with rules, we say so.
The range runs from serious daily sadhana on the Ganga to Himalayan-Buddhist stillness to unhurried beachside sessions. It suits first-timers testing the water, returning practitioners wanting depth, and anyone who simply needs to slow down and be told the truth about where they are going.
What you’ll find
When to go. Rishikesh and Dharamshala are best from roughly September to April, when the air is clear and the mornings are cold but manageable; the monsoon months bring heavy rain and swollen rivers to both. Dharamshala can hold snow into early spring, which some find beautiful and others find hard for daily practice. Goa runs on the opposite clock, at its most pleasant from November to February, hot and quiet through the shoulder months, and wet through the monsoon. If you want all three in one trip, the cooler winter window is the sensible overlap.
