SAL, MEADOW, STRIPE

Five nights across the two heavyweights of central Indian wildlife — Kanha’s vast sal-and-meadow landscape, then Bandhavgarh’s compact, tiger-dense hills — with six safari windows between them. Doubling the parks is not greed; it is arithmetic. Tigers are wild animals, and two ecosystems roughly double your chances of the encounter you came for.

The rhythm is fixed by the forest department: a dawn drive from around sunrise to late morning, an afternoon drive from roughly 3 pm to sunset. Every drive is in your own dedicated Gypsy with a naturalist, so a leopard in a tree gets twenty minutes, not a vote. The middle day is the five-hour drive between parks.

Kanha is the epic — 900-plus square kilometres of sal forest, bamboo and open meadow where chital graze in hundreds. Bandhavgarh is the thriller — steeper, tighter, a ruined hill fort above it all, and the Tala zone’s famous density. Lodges at both sit on the park edge, all birdsong and woodsmoke.

Some moments are built for lingering: mist burning off Kanha meadow at 6.45 am with barasingha antlers above the grass; chai poured from a flask at the mid-drive halt; and the full-throated chital alarm that stops every engine in earshot — then stripes, unhurried, crossing the road.

Built for wildlife-obsessed families, photographers, and anyone who wants their first tiger done properly. Not for late risers — 5 am alarms are non-negotiable — nor for travellers who need a guarantee. No honest operator promises a tiger; we promise you the best possible odds.

FAQ

Good to
know

Will we definitely see a tiger?

Arrow

No, and distrust anyone who says otherwise. What six drives across two high-density parks gives you is strong probability — most guests on this itinerary do see at least one. The forest fills the gaps: leopard, gaur, wild dog, and Kanha's barasingha are sightings in their own right.

When should we go, and when is the park shut?
